“A Road to Equity in SNAP-Ed” Webinar
The Race, Health, and Social Equity Committee is pleased to present its seminal position paper, “A Road to Equity in SNAP-Ed.” During this webinar on November 9th, several of the authors will briefly introduce the topics covered within and discuss foundational principles and practices SNAP-Ed professionals can adopt to ensure high-quality equity-focused programming for all SNAP-Ed participants.

ASNNA Conference: Save the Date
The 2024 ASNNA Conference will be held February 5-8th, 2024 at the Marriott Metro Center Hotel in Washington, DC. More information to come for registration and link to the hotel.
Note: “If the attendance Guidance provided [in the FY 2024 SNAP-Ed Plan Guidance] does not enable you to meet the needs of your SNAP-Ed activities, contact your Regional Office to determine if an alternative number of attendees is allowable” (FY 2024 SNAP-Ed Plan Guidance, pg. 116).
ASNNA Conference: Call for Abstracts
The ASNNA 2024 Conference Committee is excited to announce the call for abstracts for the upcoming in-person ASNNA Conference. The conference theme this year is “SNAP-Ed: From Promise to Practice.”
Items Required for Submission
- 250 word abstract corresponding to the conference objectives
- 2-3 objectives specific to the abstract submitted
- Include presenter name(s), email(s), CV(s), bio(s), headshot(s), and financial disclosure(s) for each presenter

Here’s How to Add Your State’s Glossy Reports to ASNNA’s Website!
You’ve been on the new 2023 Farm Bill page, but have you noticed the button for state impact reports? Click on it, a US map pops up, and another click pulls up results from the state you’re interested in! An immediate purpose is to support ASNNA’s Farm Bill recommendations. Already, there are more than 300 attractive, readable impact reports and infographics that showcase SNAP-Ed outcomes and partnerships. If your state’s topline results aren’t on the site yet, you can add them now.
Partners and policy makers need to find concise, pithy highlights from every state easily, in one place. ASNNA’s site complements USDA’s SNAP-Ed Connection by lifting up states’ best results and posting them quickly. In this policy environment, having states’ voices describing their reach, initiatives, impacts, results, and partner opinions is powerful.
It’s super easy! Just send links to your short, glossy Annual Reports and infographics to info@asnna.us.org using the subject line, Advocacy QR Code. They can be from several fiscal years, and 508 compliance is great but not mandatory. New materials will be added promptly!

“True Cost of Food: Food is Medicine Case Study”
The Food is Medicine Institute at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University released a report, produced with support from The Rockefeller Foundation, titled “True Cost of Food: Food is Medicine Case Study.“ The report features two national case studies demonstrating the health equity and economic benefits of medically tailored meals (MTMs) and produce prescription programs as it offers an analysis of the costs and benefits of implementing Food is Medicine programs across the country.
Utah State University & Create Better Health’s National Nutrition Certification Program
The National Nutrition Certification Program (NNCP) is a free online nutrition certification course designed for public nutrition educators. NNCP is offered through Utah State University’s Create Better Health (Utah SNAP-Ed) program. This program is being used to enhance the knowledge and skills of nutrition educators around the world.
NNCP progresses through 19 learning modules, including the Art of Teaching, Dietary Guidelines for Americans, MyPlate, Macronutrients, Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans, Food Safety and more. Course content was validated through expert review by registered dietitians. Once complete, the certification is good for three years and recertification is available.

ASNNA Evaluation Committee: Guide to Coordination Between SNAP-Ed and Other Federal Programs
The ASNNA Evaluation Committee has released a new resource: Guide to Coordination Between SNAP-Ed and Other Federal Programs.The purpose of the guide is to help support the requirement in the SNAP-Ed Plan Guidance to plan for and report on significant partnerships with organizations with complementary missions to reach individuals eligible for SNAP-Ed through multiple channels and varied approaches. The guide includes background information, a table display of other federal programs, case studies and other examples of coordination and collaboration efforts, and evaluation resources. The guide is designed to provide resources to support meaningful partnerships that align with the requirement to engage substantively with other federal programs.
